This month’s charity, Roy’s Desert Resource Center’s mission is to get people back on their feet, become self-sufficient, and return to a home of their own. Named in honor of the late Riverside County Supervisor, Roy Wilson, the Center is the very first comprehensive resource center for the transitionally homeless families, individuals and veterans in Coachella Valley. Staff members assist clients in regaining their stability in the community, as well as securing safe and affordable housing. Located in N. Palm Springs, the Center is operated by Jewish Family Services of San Diego and funded by the Coachella Valley Association of Governments’ (CVAG) Homelessness Committee and the Friends of Roy’s Foundation.
The mission of The Wedding Warriors organization is to educate those interested in the wedding/special events industry, build strong relationships with related business people and give back to the community.
Created in 2010 by Gregory Goodman, owner of My Little Flower Shop and newly opened My Little Bridal Boutique in Palm Springs, Wedding Warriors has become Riverside County’s top networking group for wedding, special event, and service industry professionals. The organization’s goal is to promote the Coachella Valley as a destination for high-end weddings, private parties and corporate events, and to provide a network of resources to destination brides and grooms with one-stop access to Coachella Valley wedding vendors.
With the advent of technology and the new business paradigms, business contacts are developing more meaningful working relationships rather than idly passing business cards. Mr. Goodman saw that the growing community of Coachella valley wedding vendors needed to be nurtured and encouraged. This is how the Wedding Warriors organization was born. Now two years later, Wedding Warrior mixers have brought thousands of people together; both vendors and brides alike who are benefiting from this dynamic membership of wedding and event professionals.
Members participate in monthly mixers, help with group contests like 2012’s “Dream Wedding” and “Teenage Dream Quinceanera,” and attend industry lectures and continuing education events.
Wedding Warriors also stays involved with the Coachella Valley community by supporting charities such as Martha’s Village, Palm Springs Animal Shelter and The Narrow Door.
